term 42 - 72 - 63. noordewind iets deinsig dreigt regen. anders mooy weer: van nagt gerypt en gedawt,

wy zyn hier omtrent maar drie myl van rodesants sneeuwbergen. de wagens wierden met de pont over de rivier gebragt en ik vertrok met myn jonge hottentot te Paart na juffer krieger aan piketberg
daar na vier uren te paart arriveerde. bevinde my beter. matjes rivier was niet diep.

Thermometer: 42-72-63.
North wind, somewhat hazy. Rain threatening but otherwise fine weather. Frost and dew last night.

Here we are only about three miles from Rodesand Sneeuwbergen. The wagons were taken across the river by ferry, I and my young Hottentot left on horseback for Mrs Krieger’s at Piketberg. After four hours on horseback we arrived there. Feeling better. The Matjes River was not deep.
